As humans, it's a fact that we are selfish creatures. Being selfish isn't necessarily our fault - we are, after all, mammals, and as mammals, just like all the other creatures in the world, it is in our DNA to be selfish. It's a primal survival instinct that is as much apart of us every day.
However, as humans, it is also in our evolutionary DNA to feel compassion for others. We didn't start out with compassion, but it has been a developed and polished trait that has grown and solidified itself into our make-up as logical and rational beings that it is just apart of us today as being selfish is. If not more-so.
In that rationale, each of us is equally capable of being compassionate, as we are capable of being selfish. Some people are more compassionate, and some people are more selfish. But even the most selfish individual has the ability to give and show compassion to others that are perhaps less fortunate than themselves.
I am a firm believer in charity and giving to those in need. Not only other humans in need, but all living creatures who need man's help. Not only living creatures, but the environment, the world, and the advancement of technology to help better the life of Earth, the life of each of us, and all living creatures.
Any charity for a good cause is worth investing in. I am also a firm believer that even if you can't give much, even a dollar or a few pennies towards a good cause is better than none at all, because it's going towards something you believe is towards a greater good. I think it not only benefits the cause you are donating to, but it also helps you grow and develop as a better person, and sadly, this world needs more good people.
Here are a few charities I donate to whenever I'm able.
If you know of a charity you would like me to include on this page, send me an email and I'll gladly add it.
